Don’t replace colors with categories. Make categories it’s own thing where you can preset a color and icon so anything created for that category has that color/icon. Then anything uncategorized can use the current system of freely setting color and icon.
That way we can have a categories page and look at events/tasks associated with that category but not lose the current flexibility. You can even add subcategories and auto fill learning (like any time I use this category with Review Meeting and Zoom in the name, it will suggest adding this same Zoom link to the description). Categories means more flexibility and easier organization based on compartmentalized information, not just saying colors have a different name.

Please just add categories instead of replacing the colors. I scan through my day tasks by the colors because I know exactly what tasks are grouped in each color. It is faster for me to just look at which color is not done yet

For such a good app, having no categories is a huge negative. I was excited and on the verge of buying this app for my family and I, but it's completely use less If I can't categorize my items in the inbox. I couldn't believe structured app doesn't have categories until now, when it's a very important and basic way to manage items. Please add this and no need to replace colors, let category be it's own thing.

+1. This would allow for something similar to the Areas and Projects feature that Things 3 has, and would more closely align Structured with David Allen’s Getting Things Done methodology.

As a visual Autistic I would deem it a drawcard feature loss if colours were removed. By all means add categories. I think it’s great. But please don’t remove colours.

Being able to group tasks into categories would be great

I am looking for an app to help me prioritise tasks from multiple projects and roles, including personal, household, work, study, community groups etc. I currently use Google Calendar with multiple calendars and recurring tasks. The Structured app appeals to me because of the inbox feature; however, I can’t organise by projects or categories so it’s pointless. Colour coding of the different categories would help, but in Google calendar, I can have a colour for the calendar and then still use a different colour for a specific task if I need it to standout.

Exactly this! I use Structured on Android and I love it as it's what I've been looking for desperately (a time-based to-do list), but I find it hard because obviously, I use it for everything (daily-life to-dos, work, personal projects...) and sometimes I like to see which tasks are on-going on each area because otherwise, it's quite easy to lose track of them. I'd also love it if it was possible to see completed tasks in a specific area.
Personally, I think it'd be incredible if a single colour could be linked to a specific area, so it helps visually. Also, as AI is used on Structured, maybe it could be useful that it could identify some keywords for each area. For instance, if in a task someone writes "report", the app detects it and it's automatically set to "Work" area.
I think it's such an essential feature that I'm sure plenty of people would benefit from it. Looking forward to it and to the brilliant future of Structured! Thank you for developing such a visually appealing and useful app!
